Playing Experience

I caught the volleyball bug in college when I enrolled in a volleyball physical education class in 1991. I immediately joined the school�s club volleyball team and I have been playing in recreation leagues since.

Coaching Philosophy

Use playing a team sport as a tool to allow young adults to gain invaluable life lessons, specifically (but not limited to):
1) how to be competitive and cooperative at the same time,
2) how to effectively communicate with coworkers (teammates) and adults (coaches),
3) how to win with grace,
4) how to lose and deal with disappointment with thoughtfulness and respect,
5) and how to consistently improve at your passion and/or what you have committed to.

Doug Oxford

Coach Oxford has been coaching volleyball since 1986. He has coached a variety of age groups and ability levels: Adult travelling teams, College (1yr), Small College (6yrs), High School-JV (2yrs), High School-Varsity (12yrs), USA Volleyball junior olympic girls club (19yrs)(ages: 14, 15, 16, 17, 18). Doug founded the Capital Region Volleyball Club in 2001 with the goal to allow as many people as possible to have a chance to learn and enjoy the sport of volleyball.

Linda Oxford

Linda has been coaching volleyball since 1998. She coached along with Doug for 4 years at NHTI in Concord, NH. She founded the Capital Region Volleyball Club with Doug back in 2001 and has been coaching, tournament directing and running the daily operations of the club since the Club's inception.

Christine Shea

I discovered my love for volleyball in highschool and went on to play in college. I still play every week in an adult co-ed league. I have been fortunate enough to have my daughter discover volleyball. Through teaching her and some of her friends how to play I got involved in coaching. It is a very rewarding experience coaching and I love sharing the love of the game with my daughter and all of the girls.
