Playing ExperienceFifteen Years experience as a player (high school, college [club team] and adult [Yankee Volleyball Association/USVBA]) Coaching PhilosophyMy passion for coaching volleyball came when my daughter was in junior high school in 8th grade. Having coached this age group, I understand the unique challenges facing students, parents and their families. I am a firm believer that family and academics come before athletics and that being an athlete is a privilege. Coaching is not just about teaching a skill to win a game; it’s about teaching young people to believe in themselves, to increase their self-esteem, and encouraging them to be leaders and role models for younger children. The greatest reward for me in working with young adults is to see their sense of accomplishment when they know they gave a challenge 110% and they feel good about what they did! This will provide them with life skills they need to become successful, well-rounded, confident adults. Fun FactsI love camping and riding (as a passenger) on a motorcycle. I scrapbook for relaxation. I love to have crazy colors and designs on my nails. My cat, Harold, brings me great joy when I come home and the first thing he does is want to get up on my shoulder and love me. Doug Oxford was the coach of an adult team that I played on years ago. My daughter played at Capital Region for 3 years and loved it. She is now my assistant coach. Contact InformationPlease login to access contact information. |

My name is Nicole, I am Coach Jackie's daughter and have been with the club for years! I am a research scientist working in cancer immunology at Harvard Medical School. I am grateful to return to the club and continue to participate in my favorite sport! CertificationsI have completed the certifications and trainings required by the USVA. Playing ExperienceI played volleyball competatively throughout middle and high school, participated in workshops and camps throughout my childhood and teenage years, and was a player for CRVBC for three years. I hold two titles, First Team All-State and 150 Aces in my Varsity career. I was only 9 kills away from 500, what a bummer! Unfortunately, I was unable to play in college, as my lab schedule was not permitting. I played every position on the court with the exception of libero. I played for Coach Doug and Coach Renee in the past, and have helped coach with Coach Missy and Coach Jackie for the past few years. Coaching PhilosophyVolleyball is a mental sport; you are only as good as you think you are. It is important to me as a coach that the players recognize their talent and potential, and continue to improve in a positive and supporting environment. Success doesn't come without hard work, and hard work doesn't come without failure. It is my goal as a coach to teach the girls that every opportunity is a chance to learn and become a better player. And lastly, the most inportant thing, have fun and be passionate about your sport! Fun FactsI have a cat named Harold and a fish named Mr. Washi-Washi. In the past few months I have picked up the bass guitar and absolutely love it! I am absolutely obsessed with coffee, and will frequently enjoy a cup while reading Stephen King novels. CertificationsIMPACT/Safe Sport Certified CPR and Immunization Certified USA Volleyball Member Playing ExperienceBeen playing for as long as I can remember. My mom coached a JV high school team when I was 4-7 years old so I became a "gym rat" at a very young age! Continued to practice and learn the sport until I was in middle school where I attended Pass Set Crush for 2 summers. I had not played organized volleyball until then. As a freshman in high school, I became the first ever freshman to make a starting position in school history! Played 4 years as the starting setter for Coe-Brown Northwood Academy where I achieved 500 assists in my career there. I played for CRVBC from 2006-2010 where I played for both Coach Doug and Coach Renee! While in college, I split my time between school and coaching to help with CBNA in the summer & fall and coached at Great Bay Volleyball Club with my mom in the winter from 2012-2017. CBNA achieved their first ever State Championship in 2013 while I was on the coaching staff! Coaching PhilosophyVolleyball is more than just understanding the physical skills, its such a team and mental sport and thats why I love it! As cool as it is to kill a ball in front of the 10 ft line and hear the crowd cheer for you, this game teaches you many lessons about life, most of which I personally still use daily. I am all about personal and team growth. I love having girls set goals for themselves and helping them acheive those goals over a season or a few years. To this day, I still have girls that I coached asking me for advice or coaching right along with me. This is my favorite part of the game, personal connections and life-long growth as a player and a person. Please always ask me anything if you see me, I am happy to help you and share my knowledge! Fun FactsI have friends in both England and Singapore that I speak to regularly I have watched our Team USA qualify for Rio 2016 Olympics & play in the VNL international tournament in Nebraska (we stayed on the same floor in the hotel as the Italian team!) I have 2 puppies named Linus and Lucy I do fitness boxing to stay in shape between my shifts at the pharmacy Contact InformationPlease login to access contact information. |
